Thomas & Hutton has worked with SEDA and the Georgia Department of Economic Development since 2003, providing consulting, planning and engineering design services for the development of the Chatham County Mega Site. The 1,500 acre mega site includes room for a 600-acre building pad and additional acreage to accommodate adjacent supporting industries. It is located at the intersection of Interstates 95 and 16 and is listed as one of the top five mega sites on the East Coast.
T&H was responsible for the planning, survey, design, 100-year flood mitigation, wetland permitting, site permitting and construction observation for the interchange, road, drainage, water and sewer infrastructure serving the site. The road design included approximately 4 miles of a 4-lane industrial road. The 600-acre building pad grading was designed along with the drainage design that included approximately 120 acres of detention and multiple drainage outfalls. The water and sewer systems were master-planned but never constructed under our contract.
