Project Description:

Thomas & Hutton performed engineering design services for a 750-acre planned community with an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course, an 18-hole Pete Dye golf course and tennis facilities designed by Stan Smith.

Roadway designs in Colleton River Plantation required special attention to detail. The road system was designed to blend with the pristine condition of the natural surroundings. Colleton River Boulevard is the main connector road in the project. The road is in excess of 4 miles in length and is located within a 100’ wide access corridor terminating at SC Highway 278.

Thomas & Hutton designed more than five miles of roads and water and sewer services to serve 103 residential lots. A vehicular tunnel design of aluminized steel and two aluminum golf cart tunnels were included in the road design. Thomas & Hutton also provided the drainage system design for both 18-hole golf courses and an additional nine-hole course. Thomas & Hutton also designed and permitted a 6,000-foot timber bulkhead along the Colleton River.
