Thomas & Hutton has performed detailed surveys of the Authority’s facilities in Georgetown, Mt. Pleasant, North Charleston, and Columbus Street.
In early 2000, the Ports Authority asked Thomas & Hutton to perform a detailed location and topographic survey of approximately 40 acres of the Columbus Street Terminal area. The resulting survey was used as the base for the design of rubber tired gantry (RTG) crane pads to convert the Terminal from a predominantly break bulk terminal into a modern container terminal.
Thomas & Hutton assisted the Ports Authority engineering staff with the preparation of the contract drawings and performed the QA/QC surveying for the project, performing periodic cross-section surveys of the project area as phases of construction were completed and calculating volumes of materials used to verify payment quantities.
