Project Description:

Thomas & Hutton was hired by Hilton Head Lakes, LLC to perform engineering and design services for a new Regional Pump Station.

Thomas & Hutton provided water and sewer master planning, hydraulic modeling, and engineering design services for the development of the 5,100 acre residential development area along Highway 278 near Interstate 95. The project included the design and construction observation of a 4,200 gpm regional lift station. The planning and design of this section included provisions and structure sizing to upgrade the station in the future to a quadplex 6,000 gpm station. The regional station was designed as a suction lift station that manifolds into existing Highway 278 24-inch diameter force main.

The project included the design of a 20 foot by 12 foot wet-well, structural foundation, and pump building, as well as 2,100 linear feet of 20-inch diameter force main, 800 linear feet of 24-inch HDPE directional drill crossing of Highway 278, and wet-tap connection to existing 24-inch diameter force main. Our services included planning with Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority on manifold design for existing highway 278 24-inch diameter force main, and future parallel 24-inch diameter force main, design, permitting, bidding, construction observation, and project closeout.

The project also included the planning and design of regional water system improvements. Approximately 5,000 linear feet of 16-inch diameter water main was designed and constructed as part of the project, as well as a 500-linear feet directional drill of Highway 278.
