Thomas & Hutton is part of the design team associated with the design and construction of a 20,000-square foot, 2-floor addition to the Speir Allied Health Building on the Grand Strand Campus of Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC). The addition will include classroom space and a dental lab to provide instructional training. Additionally, it will serve as a dental indigent care clinic.
The project includes the survey and preparation of base maps to support the drainage design. Thomas & Hutton is responsible for grading, roadway/parking area, water distribution, drainage, sanitary sewer, and erosion control design. Additional tasks include coordination during the bid process and construction observation and closeout.
The project will be designed in accordance with the "Energy Independence & Sustainable Construction Act of 2007" with LEED silver certification. The anticipated range of construction costs is $4 to $7 million.
