Thomas & Hutton was the prime AE for the SOF building 708 TEMF expansion and concrete hardstand design/build project. Services provided included approximately 5 acres of topographic surveying and existing utility mapping, site layout based on existing site constraints, civil site design, site permitting, construction phase services, and project closeout. Thomas & Hutton coordinated and managed all other design disciplines including architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.
The Special Operations Forces (SOF) Building 708 TEMF Expansion project was a design/build procurement located at Hunter Army Airfield, Savannah Georgia. The user for the facility is the 1st Battalion 75th Ranger Regiment.
The project included an expansion of approximately 1,943 square feet (sf) to Building 708 for the addition of a third maintenance bay and relocation of the existing support equipment including the compressed air closet, motor storage room, fire riser closet, and POL storage room. The building expansion required relocation of the existing wash rack and expansion of the adjacent concrete pavement for equipment parking.
The project included the design and construction of approximately 14,000 square yards (sy) of additional concrete hardstand pavement for heavy equipment vehicular parking including security fencing. Demolition of Building 612 was included and the relocation of the modular truck scale building to provide additional area for the parking facility. Affected utility systems for the project included electrical, water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and fire protection.
