Thomas & Hutton wurde von der American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Georgia Section mit dem Project of Merit Award in der Kategorie Redevelopment f\u00fcr das Jackson Street Plaza Redevelopment Project ausgezeichnet. Der Platz in Dublin, Georgia, bringt neues Leben in den Raum, der zuvor von einem bauf\u00e4lligen Geb\u00e4ude in der Innenstadt von Dublin eingenommen wurde. Die Plaza erf\u00fcllte den Bedarf an einem flexiblen, \u00f6ffentlichen Versammlungsraum im Freien f\u00fcr das Stadtzentrum von Dublin. Wenn die Plaza nicht f\u00fcr organisierte Veranstaltungen genutzt wird, kann sie von den Menschen, die in dieser Gegend leben und arbeiten, f\u00fcr eine Vielzahl von Zwecken umgestaltet werden. Die Flexibilit\u00e4t des Raums erm\u00f6glicht es den Besuchern, halbprivate Interaktionen in einem \u00f6ffentlichen Raum zu schaffen.<\/p>\n

Thomas & Hutton lieferte Landschaftsarchitektur, Bauplanung f\u00fcr Planierung, Entw\u00e4sserung und Tragwerksplanung, Wasser- und Abwasseranalyse, endg\u00fcltige Standortplanung sowie Koordinierung und Planung der Versorgungseinrichtungen f\u00fcr die Plaza und die Parkpl\u00e4tze im Stadtzentrum. Thomas & Hutton \u00fcberwachte auch die Verfeinerung des Masterplans, die Angebotsabgabe, die Erteilung von Genehmigungen und die Bauleistungen. Der Sanierungsplan f\u00fcr die Plaza ist Teil eines bereits abgeschlossenen Masterplans f\u00fcr das Gebiet, der auch den Abriss des bestehenden Geb\u00e4udes auf dem Plaza-Gel\u00e4nde vorsieht.<\/p>\n

Der Platz verf\u00fcgt \u00fcber mehrere Springbrunnen, darunter ein interaktives Planschbecken, das im Mittelpunkt der Aktivit\u00e4ten auf dem Platz steht. Die Fu\u00dfg\u00e4ngerzonen wurden mit Pflastersteinen und erh\u00f6hten Stegen ausgestattet und mit verschiedenen Beleuchtungsarten versehen, um den Platz auch nachts zu einem Ziel zu machen. Es wurde eine sehr vielf\u00e4ltige Pflanzenpalette verwendet, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf einheimischen Arten lag, die als Teil der Regenwasserl\u00f6sungen f\u00fcr den Platz und den dazugeh\u00f6rigen Parkplatz entworfen wurden.<\/p>\n

Der Masterplan sah die Schaffung einer Eingangsfassade an der Jackson Street vor, um den Charakter des Viertels mit Gesch\u00e4ften und Restaurants auf dem B\u00fcrgersteig zu erhalten und einen Raum f\u00fcr die Interaktion mit der Gemeinschaft zu schaffen, der sich von den angrenzenden Geb\u00e4uden abhebt und gleichzeitig eine Einheit mit ihnen bildet. Die Eingangsfassade besteht aus einer Mischung aus neuem und geborgenem Mauerwerk, das aus dem Abriss des vorherigen Geb\u00e4udes stammt. Im Mittelpunkt der Fassade steht ein Eingangsbereich mit Ziegelb\u00f6gen, der bewusst so gestaltet wurde, dass er den Eindruck einer Geb\u00e4udefront erweckt und den Fu\u00dfg\u00e4ngern, die die Jackson Street entlangschlendern, nicht den Eindruck einer Leere im Stra\u00dfenbild vermittelt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
