Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America

Thomas & Hutton provided engineering design services for the Hyundai Metaplant America electric automotive manufacturing facility at the Bryan County Megasite. Services included site selection, general consulting, due diligence assistance, site master planning, project management, design, permitting, and construction phase services for the Savannah Harbor-Interstate 16 Joint Development Authority for the Hyundai campus, including mass grading. The planned Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant will include five buildings totaling approximately 4 million square feet. In addition, Thomas & Hutton’s design services for Haeahn/Hyundai Motor Group include onsite road, site, water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure; mass grading plans; and wetland permitting to support the approximately 3,000-acre site located in the southeast quadrant of U.S. Highway 280 and Interstate 16 in Bryan County, Georgia.

The Hyundai Metaplant is Hyundai Motor Group’s first dedicated fully EV and battery manufacturing facility in the United States and is the largest economic development deal in the state of Georgia’s history. Thomas & Hutton began working with the Savannah Harbor-Interstate 16 Joint Development Authority (JDA) in 2019 planning, survey, design, and permitting and assisted with grant writing/funding support for the regional water and wastewater improvements to service the Megasite and the region at large.
