30 Jun Project Update: North Bryan County Water Reclamation Facility
The North Bryan County Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) in Bryan County, Georgia is currently under construction and will act as one of our region’s largest Membrane Bio Reactor (MBR) facilities. The WRF will primarily service Hyundai Metaplant America and associated developments. The Metaplant is considered the most significant investment in Georgia’s history. Thomas & Hutton facilitated an accelerated delivery for the project’s design, permitting, and construction from a standard five-year timeline to three years due to the immediate demand for service at the rapidly developing Hyundai site.
The MBR process treats wastewater with microorganisms by breaking down organic matter and utilizing membranes to separate solids and pathogens from the water, making it safe for reuse.
The North Bryan County WRF will treat 4 million gallons per day and expand to 5 million gallons per day, with a future capacity potential of up to 8 million. T&H was also responsible for expanding an existing land application facility adjacent to the plant. The expansion increased capacity from 46,000 gallons per day to 95,000 gallons per day, which helped meet temporary water treatment needs in the area.
