15 Nov Thomas & Hutton’s Hangar 692 Project Received the ACEC-TN Engineering Excellence Honor Award In The Large Transportation Projects Category

We are excited to share that our Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport Authority Hangar 692 project received the ACEC-TN Engineering Excellence Honor Award in the Large Transportation Projects Category.
The Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport was constructed during World War II to house the Army Air Force Combat Crew School in the Nashville Metropolitan area. Today, the airport is the third largest in Tennessee, encompassing over 1,700 acres. The Airport primarily houses charter and corporate aircraft services and operates a joint-use facility with the Tennessee Army National Guard Helicopter Unit and a venue for private flight training.
The new hangar is 30,892 square feet, an increase in size from older hangars at the airport, and can now hold up to a Boeing 737-800 airliner, with the capability to shut the hangar doors with the nose of a plane fully inside. Way to go, team!
