Thomas & Hutton provided engineering and consulting services for the nationally renowned and award-winning 50-suite Inn at Palmetto Bluff. The Inn at Palmetto Bluff is an upscale resort community situated within the 16,000-acre property known as Palmetto Bluff. The beauty and lure of Palmetto Bluff is based on its environment and natural lay of the land, which dictates the design of this habitat. Residents and visitors feel more with nature as Palmetto Bluff is touted as a “place” more so than a “project”. Palmetto Bluff is unique in that its design integrates a mixed-use community within a serene natural environment.
Palmetto Bluff offers a tranquil setting, while offering popular amenities. These include an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course, two pool facilities, sports campus, boat storage and launch facility supporting both fresh and saltwater vessels, spa, retail shops, and a 36-stall world class equestrian facility – all of which are surrounded by a 6,000-acre pristine maritime managed forest, the last along the east coast. Thomas & Hutton’s responsibilities include sustainable site development, water and wastewater system design, including a 500,000-million gallon per day treatment plant, road design, trail design, stormwater and water quality design, permitting, and construction administration services.
