The 23,000-square foot Town of Bluffton Law Enforcement Center sits on 3.3 acres of which two acres is developed to address parking, cruiser storage, detainee embarkation, emergency vehicle access, and stormwater management for the police station.

Thomas & Hutton provided engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, permitting assistance, and construction administration. The site was designed through collaboration with the Chief of police, Town staff, and the design team.  Defensible space practices were implemented to facilitate safety in the outdoor areas. Sustainable practices were also implemented in the building and the site to promote lower maintenance costs, water quality, reduced potable water usage, and enjoyable work environment. Xeriscape landscaping, bioretention basins, and a stormwater reuse irrigation system were all part of the infrastructure design.
