The existing City-owned site was redeveloped and constructed into a new public safety building and support facilities, while maintaining the existing water tower, dog park, camping facility, and cell phone tower. The site consists of a new building, parking area, and stormwater facilities. The project will drain to the existing City-owned stormwater system within the Van Horn Street right-of-way and outfall to Chimney Creek – south of the project. The addition meant an upgrade for the 911 system security by adding in a “sally port” or a secure area to bring in prisoners for a short time. It also added the ability to do in-house training in a state-of-the-art facility and provided a dual purpose courtroom to serve as the city council meeting room. Thomas & Hutton provided engineering design services, utility coordination, stormwater system design, and parking lot design.
