Thomas & Hutton provided professional services for design of new road to serve the new Volvo Car facility in Berkeley County, SC.  The new road is approximately 5.2 miles in length, beginning just east of Interstate 26 and running northeasterly to an intersection with US Highway 176 and included a relocated intersection with Fish Road (SR 8-309).

The project included:

• Topographic surveying for use in planning and engineering design, property surveys, and platting of new right-of-way and associated easements
• Civil design, including preparing mass grading, water, sewer, and roadway plans
• Permitting, including submitting plans and specifications to the applicable local, state, and federal agencies for review
• Bidding and award, including preparation of contract documents, assembly of bid packages, attendance or conducting pre-bid meetings, responding to contractor questions, and preparation of Thomas & Hutton’s recommendation letter for award of bid
• Construction services, including construction administration, observation and record drawings

The project conformed to applicable SC Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration guidelines.
