School’s Out and Savannah Summer Interns are In!

Join us in welcoming the eight interns joining us this summer in our Savannah office.

Marcus Elton is a rising senior at Georgia Southern University pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. He is interning with the Civil Department in Savannah and looks forward to applying his coursework to real life scenarios. He also hopes his internship experience allows him to better assess his areas of interest within civil engineering. Marcus is a fourth generation Georgia Southern student, but roots for UGA football. He also volunteers with youth athletics at the Pooler Recreation Department and enjoys playing golf in his spare time.

Joseph Pham is a rising junior at Georgia Southern University pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering where he has done research for an engineering professor and works as an engineering assistant, which has brought him new learning experiences outside of his coursework. He is interning with the Civil Department in Savannah and is interested in learning about the different specializations in the field. Joseph is lefthanded and travels to Vietnam every few years to visit family.

Brett Emerick is a senior at Louisiana State University pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. Brett is returning for his second internship with the Civil Department in Savannah and looks forward to gaining further knowledge and gaining experience outside of the classroom. Brett was born and raised in Savannah and enjoys wake boarding, water skiing, and going to the beach.

Geoff Dodd is a rising junior at The University of Georgia pursuing a degree in Computer Science and is interning with the GIS Department in Savannah. Geoff looks forward to learning more about the software development process that goes into creating the geothinQ application. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, racquetball, and the drums. He also enjoys going to the beach and hanging out with his friends.

Macy Butler is a rising junior at the University of Georgia pursuing a degree in Landscape Architecture. She has previous experience as a Civil Department Intern in our Charleston office and will intern this summer with the Landscape Architecture Department in Savannah. Outside of school Macy enjoys grappling and training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. She also enjoys riding horses and has a part time job exercise riding foxhunting horses in Athens, Georgia.

Eli Taylor is a rising senior at Georgia Southern University pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf.  He is interning with the Transportation Department in Savannah and looks forward to learning more about transportation design. Eli is a Clemson Fan from Thomasville Georgia and played college baseball at Gulf Coast State in Panama City for two years. He also enjoys playing golf in his free time.

Christina Phillips is a rising senior at Clemson University pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering and a minor in music. She is interning with the Environmental Department in Savannah. Her past internship experience includes geological and environmental engineering. Christina is enthusiastic about gaining hands-on experience in the practice of water and wastewater infrastructure design as an intern. Christina is a piano player and member of the Clemson University Singers; she also enjoys writing her own music. She also has been involved with Clemson Engineers for Developing countries and helped lead a team designing a sustainable hydropower system for a village in Haiti.

Tanner Buggs earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from The University of Georgia and will be pursuing his master’s in business administration when he returns to school in the fall. He has held a previous internship in civil engineering aviation. Tanner hopes to grow his understanding of best management practices for stormwater management and sharpen his skills in modeling storm events as an intern with the Water Resources Department in Savannah. Tanner recently proposed to his girlfriend of 3 ½ years and hopes to start a non-profit in the distant future, doing engineering work in developing countries. In his free time, Tanner enjoys ultimate frisbee and running.
