Charleston Christmas Commandos

Charleston Christmas Commandos

Thank you to our employees who supported the Christmas Commandos Angel Trees in the Charleston office! Christmas Commandos is a non-profit children’s organization that brings gifts to the homes of children who have lost one or both parents in the past year. The Commandos work with guidance counselors, Hospice care, local churches, and other organizations in the Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties to gather the names and information, as well as, needs and wants of things for Christmas. On Christmas Eve and morning the “commandos” dress in black and deliver gifts in the cover of darkness on porches, hung on trees, or other places where the gifts can easily be seen on Christmas morning! The angel trees were an incredible success and 100% of “missions” were accepted, and gifts brought in by our generous Charleston staff!

Brooke (Bourne), her husband Parker, Kayla (Kernich), her boyfriend Dennison, and Destiny Bendell, as well as another previous Christmas Commando (Joyce) spent their Christmas eve/early Christmas morning serving as a Christmas Commando “Drop Team” aka “The T&H Midnight Riders”. The team met at Commandos HQ at 11pm for a safety briefing, mission details, drop confirmations, and specifics on each delivery location. They headed out at 12:45am with the mission of six Drops with two being in Hanahan, two in Cainhoy, and two in Mount Pleasant! Drops began in Hanahan where they met their first police escort of the night. Once finished in Hanahan, they met their next police escort for drops in Cainhoy, then on to Mount Pleasant to meet their third police escort for the final drops of the night. The teams final Drop was completed around 3:46 am, and our the T&H Midnight Riders made it home just before dawn to spend Christmas morning with their families!

We would like to extend our gratitude to the police escorts from Mount Pleasant Police Department, City of Hanahan Police Department, and the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office for keeping us safe and allowing the T&H Midnight Riders to complete their mission!

Thank you again to everyone who donated gifts and a special thanks to the T&H Midnight Riders for the admirable, hard work done on Christmas eve/morning.
