Thomas & Hutton is in the final design and permitting phase for three drainage outfalls for Isle of Palms, SC as mentioned in the Mayor’s Message for February. Following increased occurrences of flooding due to heavy rainfall events, extreme high tides, and sea level rise, the City began working with T&H in January of 2019 on a project to study and design drainage improvements for three outfall locations. The outfall improvements considered infrastructure that could accept future runoff amounts and storm events. Backflow prevention was also included in the designs to address tidal/”sunny day” flooding. Click here to read the full Mayor’s Message.
