21 Jul Ken Nagel Named President of the APWA, South Carolina Chapter
Congratulations to Ken Nagel, PE on being named the 2020-2021 President of the American Public Works Association (APWA), South Carolina Chapter’s Executive Committee. Ken has been a member of the APWA since 2009 and served as the Lowcountry Branch President in 2018. He also served on various committees at the Branch and Chapter levels, including Chapter Education Chair from 2018 – 2020.
The APWA, South Carolina Chapter exists to support the people, agencies, and organizations that plan, build, maintain, and improve communities. Working with the APWA, the Chapter and its membership contribute to a higher and sustainable quality of life through education, outreach, trainings, conferences, and scholarship programs. As President, Ken will oversee the Chapter’s efforts to promote and advance education and training related to the design, construction, maintenance, administration and operation of public works facilities and services throughout the state of South Carolina.
Ken is an Environmental Department Project Manager in Thomas & Hutton’s Charleston region. Ken joined Thomas & Hutton in 2004 and has nearly 30 years of experience in evaluation, planning, and design for environmental and water resources projects, including stormwater management, water distribution systems, wastewater collection and pumping systems, and potable water wells. A licensed Professional Engineer, Ken holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology. In addition to his positions with the APWA, Ken is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Society of American Military Engineers.
