November Engineering Explorer Post in Savannah

November Engineering Explorer Post in Savannah

Our Savannah office hosted another successful and fun Engineering Explorer Post with Coastal Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America!

High school participants from Savannah-Chatham County Public School System were lead by Brad Lariscy, Jen Roach, and Jason Chambless in various activities with real world applications in the engineering field.

The students were divided into several groups to compete in who could get the lowest closure error in a “level loop” surveying exercise. They also participated in collecting stormwater infrastructure data using GIS surveying equipment with live updates to their very own geodatabase within geothinQ.

Finally, the students witnessed Brad Lariscy flying the T&H drone and brainstormed ways the drone could be used in conjunction with standard surveying equipment and GIS to more efficiently and efficiently do the job of a civil engineer.
