22 Mar Cedar Shoals Breaks Ground in Porterdale
The City of Porterdale in Newton County, Georgia celebrated the groundbreaking of Cedar Shoals last week! The development is expected to fill a need for new housing amidst growing commercial activity such as the LIDL grocer regional distribution center and Facebook data center. T&H provided due diligence, master planning, DRI, survey, civil engineering, landscape architecture, and construction observation services for 263-acre development to consist of single-family, townhome, and multi-family dwellings.
Our conceptual master plan incorporated a variety of amenities including a kayak launch onto the Yellow River, passive trails, and a 10’ wide multi-use trail connecting to the Newton Trails System. An extensive civil engineering phase included designing a transportation network of 4-lane and 2-lane boulevards with medians, 4 roundabouts, and 3 stream crossings. The main throughfares involved coordination and permitting from the County DOT and GDOT. Utility design merged sewer with an onsite network and a single pump station to carry the entire project to the treatment facility. The water main extension connected to two juridsdictions.
