25 Jun Travis Field WRF Update
The City of Savannah Travis Field Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) is nearing completion! Travis Field will utilize Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology and various processes to transform influent wastewater to reclaimed effluent.
Screening and grit removal is the initial step in wastewater treatment, the contractor has completed the concrete structure for grit removal and is in the process of completing the large steel structure for the screens. The 4-MGD MBR treatment structure is nearing completion; the 50-foot-tall tanks now have final touches being installed; this includes staircases and walkways, membrane filter crane, and large feed forward pumps. Almost all pumping and piping is installed within the MBR facility’s auxiliary room.
The motor control system that is responsible for housing the facility’s electric components and is almost finished. The room consists of hundreds of controls to ensure the facility is running efficiently. Once the water is fully treated by the MBR, the reclaimed effluent water travels through the Ultraviolet (UV) Disinfection System. The UV Disinfection System ensures that discharged water is free from harmful bacteria.
