T&H 2021 Summer Intern Class

Thomas & Hutton is pleased to introduce their class of 2021 summer interns. Interns work and learn along with Thomas & Hutton’s professional engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, and GIS analysts as well as marketing and graphics staff. 

Thomas & Hutton’s interns will gain exposure to a wide range of technical and field opportunities by supporting teams on various projects. Interns have the opportunity to apply their skills in site planning or through programs such as AutoCad Civil 3D and the Adobe Creative Suite outside of the classroom in a business setting. Many current employees of Thomas & Hutton began their careers as interns, and have successfully advanced within the company. 

Isabelle Hipp is an intern in our Atlanta Civil Department. A Charlotte native, Isabelle is a rising junior at North Carolina State University where she is a member of the University Honors Program. Isabelle is studying civil engineering with a minor in landscape architecture. She is active in the Engineers Without Borders Club, NC State Women’s Club Lacrosse, and Chi Omega sorority. 

David Smith is an intern in our Berkeley County Survey Department. David is a rising senior at the Citadel where he is studying civil and environmental engineering. He has practical experience in the use of GIS software and working with survey equipment. David is involved in the Citadel History Club and Citadel Steel Bridge Team. 

Dixon Flowers is an intern in our Charleston Water Resources Department. A rising senior at the Citadel, Dixon is working towards his degree in civil and environmental engineering.  Dixon worked as an intern and operator at CR Jackson Contractors in Florence, SC. He is active in the American Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter at The Citadel.

John Jordan joins Thomas & Hutton for his second summer as an intern in our Charleston Structural Department. John is a recent graduate of Clemson University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering. While at Clemson, John was active in the Theta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Nu, service as Academic and Alumni chair. 

Lizzy McClure is an intern in our Charleston Water Resources Department. She is a rising junior at Clemson University where she is studying civil engineering with a focus in environmental engineering. She is an active member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and volunteers with the Special Olympics. 

Sam Hearne is an intern in our Charleston Civil Department. He is a rising junior at Clemson University where he is working towards his degree in civil engineering. He is a member of Beta Upsilon Chi (Brothers Under Christ) at Clemson and a regular volunteer as a guitar player in the music ministry at Shem Creek Presbyterian Church and the children’s ministry at East Cooper Baptist Church. 

Jennifer Plocinik is an intern in our Myrtle Beach Civil Department. She attends the University of Tennessee at Martin where she is studying civil engineering. Jennifer is an accomplished marksman and serves as team captain of the University of Tennessee at Martin’s Rifle Team. She is an active member of the university’s American Society of Civil Engineers Club and the National Society of Leadership & Success, Sigma Alpha Pi Honors Society. Jennifer also volunteers with the Mahoning Valley Fire Company and Operation Life Cherish. 

Tyler Bare is an intern in our Buford Survey Department. Tyler is a recent graduate of Buford High School. This is his second summer as an intern, having worked with DPE as a survey intern in 2020.

Addie Leonard is an intern in our Nashville Civil Department. Addie is a senior at the Georgia Institute of Technology where she is studying civil engineering with a concentration in environmental systems, as well as working toward a certificate in leadership and organizational change from the College of Business. Addie is a member and executive vice president of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and a mathematics, physics, and engineering tutor for the Georgia Tech Athletic Association. She is also a member of the Georgia Tech Chapter of the American Society of Engineers. 

Casen Shoemake is an intern in our Greenville Civil Department. Casen is a rising junior at D.W. Daniel High School in Central, SC. Outside of school, he enjoys programming, learning new skills, and spending time with friends.

Alex Arango is an intern in our Graphics Department in Savannah. Alex is a Savannah native and senior at the University of Georgia majoring in journalism. He has experience in information gathering, analysis, and distributing public information. Alex is a regular performer with Improv Athens, a comedy troupe run by University of Georgia students. 

Anna Wilson is an intern in our Savannah Landscape Architecture Department. Anna is studying Landscape Architecture at the University of Georgia with a minor in horticulture and studio art. She will also receive a certificate in sustainability and historic preservation. Anna is a member and internal social chair of Gamma Phi Betta sorority and a volunteer with the Athens Area Humane Society. 

Benjamin Jones is an intern in our Savannah Civil Department. He is studying civil engineering at the University of Georgia. He previously interned with T&H with the Survey Department. His interests include fishing, basketball, boating, and his fraternity.  

Dontavious Hamilton is an intern in our Savannah Civil Department. A rising sophomore at Georgia Southern University where he is majoring in mechanical engineering. Dontavious is returning for his second consecutive summer as an intern at Thomas & Hutton. 

Dylan Hughes is an intern in our Savannah GIS Department. He is a rising junior at West Virginia University studying computer science. Dylan is returning for his second summer as an intern a GIS Intern. 

Eli Taylor is an intern in our Savannah Transportation Department. Eli is a student at Georgia Southern University where he is studying civil engineering. He has his associate of arts degree from Gulf Coast State College where he was a scholarship student-athlete on the men’s baseball team. Eli returns to Thomas & Hutton for the second summer as a Transportation Intern.

Elliot Scarbrough is an intern in our Marketing Department in Savannah. She is a rising sophomore at Mercer University majoring in business marketing and graphic design. Elliot brings vast experience in the Adobe design suite to her position as a Marketing Intern. 

Jay Patel is an intern in our Savannah Civil Department. He is a rising senior at Richmond Hill High School where he is an AP student. Jay leads youth activities at BAPS and is involved at school in TSA, FBLA, SkillsUSA, HOSA, FCCLA, National Honor Society, STEM Club, and the varsity tennis team. He is a member of Leadership Bryan and a volunteer at Bryan County Health/Rehab Center. 

Kade Chapman is an intern in our Savannah GIS Department. He is a student at the University of Georgia studying geography with an emphasis in geospatial analysis and visualization. He is a member of the UGA Spikeball Club team as well as Rural Students Igniting Success In Education (RISE).

Madi Croasmun is an intern in our Savannah Environmental Department. She is a rising sophomore at the University of Georgia majoring in civil engineering. 

Mary Lee McQuigg is an intern in our Savannah Environmental Department. She is a rising senior at the University of Georgia studying environmental engineering. Mary Lee has participated in the UGA Interdisciplinary Field Program and worked as an intern for the UGA Marine Extension and Sea Grant as well as the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission. She is active on campus in the Society of Environmental Engineers and Delta Gamma sorority. 

Morgan Bratton is an intern in our Finance Department in Savannah. Morgan is studying biology at Georgia Southern University and is a member of GSU’s Southern Pride Color Guard. 

Nigel Wright is an intern in our Savannah Civil Department. He is a rising senior at the University of Georgia pursuing a degree in civil engineering. Nigel has previous experience as a roadway intern. He is an Eagle Scout and is active on campus at UGA as a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Quinn O’Brien is an intern in our Savannah GIS Department. She is a rising senior at the University of Georgia where she is studying environmental engineering with a minor in Spanish. She has previous work experience performing environmental engineering research with an emphasis on solid waste. Quinn has also interned at a coastal engineering firm in the Bahamas.

Shane Henry is an intern in our Savannah Survey Department. He is a student at Georgia Southern University majoring in civil engineering.  

Veronica Cox is an intern in our Savannah GIS Department. She is a student at Georgia College & State University where she is pursuing a degree in geography with a minor in anthropology and Spanish language & culture. She is working towards her GIS certificate and is active on campus as president of the Geography Club. Veronica has past experience as a GIS Intern for the Rural Studies Institute at Georgia College.
