T&H Helping Hands Restoring Oyster Habitats

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources’ SC Oyster Recycling and Enhancement (SCORE) program restores and enhances oyster habitats by planting recycled oyster shells in the intertidal environment to create new, self-sufficient oyster reefs. A big shout out to our T&H Helping Hands volunteers in Charleston who assisted with the SCORE efforts this past weekend with Charleston Waterkeeper at a marsh restoration project on James Island. The crew planted almost 4,000 stalks of Spartina (marsh) grass along the beach near the DNR Facility. Thank you to the Waterkeeper and DNR team for having us, we enjoyed partaking in this rewarding work!
