Old Village Groundbreaking

Did you know that parts of the Old Village District in the Town of Mount Pleasant were developed before modern drainage standards? It is for this reason that the Royall Avenue Basin is the Town’s first priority in their massive effort to improve drainage in the Old Village. Thomas & Hutton’s Old Village Watershed Study evaluated flooding and drainage conditions and made recommendations for new and upgraded stormwater infrastructure for the 975-acre area.

Hillary Aton, Project Manager, and Rick Karkowski, Water Resources Department Manager (second and third from the right) can be seen breaking ground on the first round of improvements – click here to watch the video on Live 5 WCSC!
