Tybee Stormwater Master Plan

Tybee Stormwater Master Plan

Thomas & Hutton is working alongside the University of Georgia to formulate a comprehensive stormwater master plan for the City of Tybee Island, Georgia. Thomas & Hutton is assessing the existing deficiencies within the primary stormwater drainage system. After surveys are completed this summer, we will present the City with a comprehensive roadmap for drainage improvements.

Thomas & Hutton is creating a 2-dimensional, rain-on-grid, ICPR4 model to identify existing deficiencies and provide recommendations for improvements. Proposed improvement scenarios will take into account current tidal boundary conditions including the impacts of sea-level rise. The study also takes into account how green (nature-based) and gray (traditional pipes) infrastructure can work together to minimize potential inundation from tidal and design storm events.
