25 Apr Boy Scouts Engineering Explorer Post
We welcomed back the Boy Scouts Coastal Georgia Council Explorer Post Program for another Engineering Explorer this month! T&H’s Savannah Water Resources group put together a hands-on activity using the Ward’s Floodplain Simulation Model to teach students about floodplains, the impact of development on floodplains, and how we as engineers design systems to mitigate the negative impact. Students tinkered with the model and developed their very own scenarios.
T&H’s Civil group also participated by putting together a straw bridge competition complete with construction schedules and cost estimates. Students were separated into teams to build their own structural bridge designs and then put them to the test in a competition against each other.
