23 Jan Thomas & Hutton’s Newest Professional Engineer: Michael Lerque
Thomas & Hutton (T&H) is pleased to announce its newest Professional Engineer (PE) in Georgia. Michael Lerque passed the Principles and Practices of Engineering Civil exam with the Water Resources and Environmental depth examination and satisfied the experience requirements needed to become a PE.
Michael Lerque is a Civil Designer and joined Thomas & Hutton in 2015 as a CAD Technician, shortly after obtaining his degree in physics at Armstrong State University (Georgia Southern University). With a penchant for engineering and design, Michael further examined the opportunity to obtain his Engineer In Training (EIT) in the state of Georgia with his background in physics. With the support of his mentors and peers, Michael obtained his EIT certification in 2017 and went on to obtain his PE.
As a Designer, Michael is responsible for preparing site development construction drawings; engineering design considerations for water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructure; preliminary cost estimates; and permit applications for residential and commercial projects.
Michael’s resume includes several notable projects in Coastal Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry, including the award-winning Hilton Head National RV Resort in Bluffton, South Carolina, Gateway Oasis RV Park in Hardeeville, South Carolina, and I-16 West Tract in Pooler, Georgia. He was named Thomas & Hutton’s 2021 Savannah Employee of The Year, noted by his colleagues as a role model who excels in his position.
