We welcomed several new faces around T&H just before the holidays! Join us in welcoming McKenzie, Carissa, Creighton, Liz, and Kamryn to the T&H family!
McKenzie Cavender joined Thomas & Hutton as a Civil Designer in Brunswick, Georgia. McKenzie obtained her degree in civil engineering from Georgia Southern University in 2022. As a student, McKenzie volunteered in her hometown of Gray, Georgia in several STEM initiatives and is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). As a Designer, she handles permit applications and prepares site development construction drawings for water, sewer, and drainage infrastructure designs associated with residential, commercial, and industrial projects along the Georgia coast, including DR Horton in St. Mary’s and Savannah Gardens.
Carissa Church joined Thomas & Hutton as a Civil Designer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Carissa obtained her degree in engineering science with a civil concentration from Coastal Carolina University in 2022. As a student, she participated in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) on structure technologies and worked on campus as a grant research assistant. As a Designer, she prepares site development construction drawings with considerations for water, sewer, and storm drainage for residential developments in Myrtle Beach and throughout the Grand Strand.
Creighton Dukes joined Thomas & Hutton as a Field Representative in the Civil Department in Savannah, Georgia. Creighton brings 18 years of experience in implementing construction projects for commercial, residential, and roadway clients along the Georgia coast. He obtained his Associate Degree in business administration from Newberry College and holds an active Master Captains License. Creighton previously managed a fleet of boats meeting tourism and logistics demands out of St. Simons, Georgia. In his role as a Field Representative, Creighton will perform routine construction observation for land development projects while serving as a liaison between the owner, Thomas & Hutton, and the contractor. He will assist Thomas & Hutton project managers in effectively administering construction contracts by visiting project sites and reviewing conditions, participating in meetings, and keeping up with all project plans and specifications.
Kamryn Owens joined Thomas & Hutton as a Project Administrator in Savannah, Georgia. Kamryn obtained her degree in business administration from Georgia Southwestern State University and will graduate with a Master of Business Administration from Georgia State University in the spring of 2023. She received her human resource management specialist certificate from Savannah Technical College and is a credentialed Microsoft Office Specialist. With vast administrative support experience in private and public sectors, Kamryn will work across Thomas & Hutton as Project Administrator on business processes, communication practice, accounting, and project management procedures. Outside the workplace, Kamryn previously served as Executive Director of Lindsey’s Place Camp 501(c)(3) non-profit organization for children and young adults with special needs.
Liz Luitwieler joined Thomas & Hutton as an Environmental Designer in Atlanta, Georgia. Liz earned her degree in civil engineering from California State University, Long Beach. She is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and MAES: Latinos in Science and Engineering, serving as the Director of Marketing for MAES early in her career. Liz’s professional experience includes working as a project engineer at a civil and environmental engineering firm in California, focusing on water, wastewater, and recycled water. In her role as Environmental Designer, Liz will assist with preparing construction plans, specifications, reports, studies, supporting documentation, cost estimates, and permit applications for projects across Georgia.
