January is National Mentoring Month! Encouraging the next generation of engineers through hands-on STEM activities is one way Thomas & Hutton helps ignite passion and set young people in our community on a path to success.
This past weekend we were a proud sponsor and participated in the Society of Women Engineers – Savannah Coastal Empire’s 11th annual Girls Engineer It Day. T&H’s Lauren Davenport, Jennifer Roach, Megan Cook, and Cecilia Arango participated in the STEM company expo and led girls in grades 4-12 in a lesson on bridge trusses and helped them build their own “straw truss bridges,” introducing engineering concepts such as load distribution.
