Designed to foster collaboration and provide resources across engineering disciplines, the Center for Engineering and Research creates an accessible space for engineering students, professors, and industry professionals to come together on Georgia Southern University’s Statesboro campus. The building’s design and siting were optimized for energy efficiency through solar orientation, taking advantage of natural daylight on the west and south sides of the building, while minimizing the admittance of heat through doors and windows from sunlight. Furthermore, the project team worked with Georgia Southern University to ensure the building’s resilience to changing trends in technology and academics.
