Thomas & Hutton provided engineering services, industrial environmental planning, permitting, and compliance to assist Honda of South Carolina with the coordination of environmental permitting and affairs related to the operation of the Timmonsville manufacturing facility. Thomas & Hutton prepared various Air Construction Permit applications for production lines and processes and Air Operating Permit renewals for all permitted industrial activities related to the manufacturing of ATVs and side-by-side units. Additionally, the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and the Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan were prepared for the facility and are kept up-to-date in accordance with regulations and as plant changes occur. A new wastewater pretreatment system for the new side-by-side unit manufacturing line was designed to remove metals, grease, and solids, as well as neutralize the wastewater prior to discharge to the City of Timmonsville sewer system (managed by the City of Florence). Thomas & Hutton was responsible for obtaining the Pretreatment Permit from the City of Florence and the preparation of a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) to obtain a Construction Permit from SCDHEC Bureau of Water for the new Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment System.
